LAMC residents should be aware that Charleston County is offering temporary financial assistance to those negatively impacted by COVID-19. A statement from the county is below:
“One-time, temporary, emergency financial assistance is available to help you with rent and utility payments if your income has been negatively impacted by COVID-19. This assistance may help prevent late fees and prevent you from being evicted. You may be eligible for up to six months consecutive emergency rental/utility assistance. No direct payment assistance to individuals. Payments will be made by Charleston County directly to the landlord and/or utility company.”
DOCUMENT CHECKLIST: The following supporting items are required before your application can be approved for assistance:
- Completed application for assistance
- Photo ID for all adult members of the household (i.e. SC Driver’s License, SC Government ID, Current Passport, etc.)
- Completed and signed (ShelterNet) Release of Information form for the household that includes birthdate & last 4 digits of Social Security #.
- Document all income from 3/1/2020 to current date
- Types of Income Documentation
- Paystubs or pay summary from employer for each working member of the household
- Current Social Security and/or Social Security Disability Letter (if applicable)
- Copy of unemployment portal from SC Dept. of Employment
- Workforce showing all state & federal benefits received
- Child Support
- Proof of loss of income (termination letter, reduction in hours letter due to COVID, etc.)
- Copies of unpaid utility bill(s) or utility shut-off notice
- $0 Income Certification Affidavit (if applicable)
