Environmental Justice

LAMC’s Environmental Justice initiatives aim to educate local decision makers, residents and college students about Environmental Justice and address legacy pollution concerns in the LAMC communities.

Educate local decision makers and residents about Environmental Justice, and address legacy pollution concerns in the LAMC communities through the successful implementation of the following:

  • Environmental Justice Academy
  • Urban Design Center
  • Mutual Aid Network
  • Mary Lee Davis Park

Environmental Justice Academy

LAMC’s Environmental Justice Academy aims to build the next generation of environmental leaders. Led by Omar Muhammad, our academy teaches the history of the environmental justice movement and trains future leaders to identify and respond to issues in their own communities.

Mutual Aid Network

LAMC provides assistance to LAMC communities to plan, respond, and recover from disasters such as hurricanes, flooding, or chemical release episodes.

Air Monitoring

Our communities deserve access to safe air quality. We partner with organizations to monitor the long term condition and any changes in the air quality in our communities.
