Community Engagement Manager

Job Description

Job Title:       Community Engagement Manager

Reports to:    CEO

Location:       2125 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC 29405

Hours:           40 hours per week, full-time, exempt

Start Date: February 10, 2025

We are looking for a Community Engagement Manager to join our team! Do you have experience in cultivating and managing relationships? Do you have excellent writing skills and enjoy public speaking? Do you have experience in project management? If so, we encourage you to apply.

Duties:

  • Develop strong relationships with officials, nonprofits, community organizations, community leaders, and related members.
  • Create and implement community outreach initiatives to continue building strong relationships with the communities we serve.
  • Attend monthly community meetings as a representative of LAMC to provide updates on initiatives and respond to questions.
  • Work as part of the team to plan and implement grant funded projects.
  • Facilitate public meetings, trainings, surveys, site visits, and focus groups.
  • Create multimedia marketing and messaging materials to include pamphlets, brochures, videos, and presentations; newsletters and social media posts. Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all platforms.
  • Provide ongoing input, information, and materials (as requested) that support internal and external communication efforts about programming and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, tact and diplomacy while representing LAMC in meetings, through written correspondence and other official roles.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and decision making to assess the efficacy of programming and to drive programmatic refinements.
  • Supervise AmeriCorps and college interns recruited to work on LAMC projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus two years of related work experience. You may submit an equivalent combination of education/work experience if it relates to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Effective communication skills
    • Ability to successfully navigate challenging conversations among diverse groups and build consensus.
    • Ability to conduct presentations and training sessions.
    • Desire to educate the community about unique issues facing the residents.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to details.
  • Ability to attend functions/activities outside of normal work hours.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge using Canva for social media.
  • Familiarity and willingness to utilize social media.
  • Basic understanding of environmental justice

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
