Community Lead Awareness Trainings with EPA

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with SC Department of Environmental Control (SC DHEC), LAMC, CCRAB and The Sustainability Institute, will be presenting two training sessions on Lead Awareness. The first session is an “Understanding Lead” presentation given on January 19th, 5:30-7 PM at North Charleston City
Hall in the Montague Room and the second is a “Train the Trainer” presentation on January 20th, 10AM-1PM at the Dorchester Road Library in the Community Room.

Details about Session 1: Join us to learn about the risks of lead exposure and how to reduce you and your families exposure to lead. During the session, you will learn about the following topics and get answers to your questions:

  1. What is lead and how might we be exposed to it?
  2. Why should I be concerned about lead?
  3. How can I reduce my family’s potential exposure to lead?
  4. Where can I find more information?

Details about Session 2: Join us for a free training to learn how to protect your community from lead exposure. By the end of this three-hour session, you will:

  1. Know simple actions you can take to reduce lead exposure
  2. Be familiar with all materials included in the Lead Awareness Curriculum
  3. Identify ways to adapt the curriculum to your community’s needs
  4. Have a plan for how to facilitate sessions in your own community

BOTH SESSIONS ARE FREE OF CHARGE. Everyone and anyone interested in learning more about Lead is welcomed. You may attend one session or both. Both are not mandatory but encouraged.
