2025 Applications are now open for LAMC’s Community Mitigation Scholarship for High School Seniors AND Nontraditional Students

High School Seniors

LAMC is excited to announce that our annual scholarship for high school students from LAMC communities is now open. Every year we award scholarships for college-bound students in our communities to help support them with tuition, room and board, and other college-related expenses. Interested students should apply through the Coastal Community Foundation web portal by clicking the apply button here. The LAMC scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years and the deadline is March 15th.

Established in 2016, this Fund will award scholarships to students in the Accabee, Chicora Cherokee, Union Heights, Howard Heights, Windsor Place, Five Mile and Liberty Hill neighborhoods in North Charleston, SC for assistance with tuition, room, board, etc. Multiple awards will be made.

Average award: 

$2,500

Criteria for eligibility:
Must live in Accabee, Chicora Cherokee, Union Heights, Howard Heights, Windsor Place, Five Mile or Liberty Hill neighborhoods in North Charleston, SC and be a high school senior.

Application process and schedule:
Applications can be completed online beginning mid-January. Each applicant will only complete one application and the online system will automatically pair you with scholarships for which you are eligible. 

The deadline for all applications to be submitted, including letters of recommendation, is March 15, 2025. All applicants will be contacted regarding their application status by early July. 

Nontraditional Students Scholarship

LAMC is excited to announce our first year of offering a scholarship for nontraditional students in the amount of $2,500! If you live in Accabee, Chicora Cherokee, Union Heights, Howard Heights, Windsor Place, Five Mile or Liberty Hill neighborhoods in North Charleston, SC and are thinking about returning to higher education then this is the scholarship for you! Interested nontraditional students should apply through the Coastal Community Foundation web portal by clicking the apply button here.
